Beer and a Movie

I have spent the night at home.

Once I put the movie in my computer I settled back and began to watch. This movie just kind of caught my eye the last few times I ventured through the movie store. I neglected it, but I finally decided it was time, I'm like that sometimes. After initially reading the back of the box during my first encounter I decided that I needed something lighter. And the next time I just glanced at it. But I this time I new I needed to watch it.

It was the same with the beer. I had actually bought it a while ago. The night I bought it I was watching my bosses dog. I walked into Sprout's and I purchased three beers. Two IPAs and this one mondo red ale, just to mix it up. Ever since it has been waiting patiently in my fridge. The beer itself interested me, yet I never popped the top. But tonight while I was taking a break from the movie to make some popcorn I opened the icebox and I knew that the two were destined to be together.

They both possess similar qualities. The beer itself was born in California, and so was the movie. Part of the movie takes place there too, and I believe most of it was shot there as well. They both contain a pretty girl; the beer has one on the label, and the movie has Zooey Deschanel. The two also contain some hint of pain. Lucky thirteen is a red ale, and like Arrogant Bastard it is bitter, but not as much as AB. The movie is about a boy who is trying to find his estranged half-brother who is 18 yrs his senior, to tell him that their mother had died 8 and 1/2 months earlier of lung cancer. The boy, Mercer, steals a car to propel his journey, and is somehow caught into a phone relationship with the owner of the car.

With that, I would suggest both this beer and this movie. Maybe you could even enjoy them together like I did.

It's amazing how much nights like this can do for your soul. A good beer and a good movie go a long, long way.
